THE Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta, Mr Kojo Opare-Hammond, and the chiefs and people of the area have expressed their appreciation to the government for the creation of the Adenta-Ashaiman Municipality.
The MP told the Daily Graphic that the people in the area were very grateful to the President and the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment for the gesture, adding that the new status would enhance the area’s development.
“All the leaders of the various political parties, opinion leaders and the entire people are lost of words and will be forever grateful to those who have fought over the years to enable the people to finally realise their dream,” he said.
“There was no doubt that more resources will be allocated for the development of the new municipality now that it has weaned itself off the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.”
Mr Opare-Hammond, therefore, appealed to the MP, chiefs and people of Ashaiman to team up with their counterparts at Adenta to adopt strategies for the take-off of the new municipality.
“Let us bury our differences now that the matter has been settled and see how best the new assembly will be run successfully,” he advised.
Mr Opare-Hammond thanked all those who contributed to the creation of the municipality and called for the spirit of teamwork to find solutions to problems that the new assembly would face.
